Oman Triumphs Over Singapore in ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier, Bahrain Seizes Victory Against Hong Kong

Kathmandu: In a thrilling encounter at the TU International Cricket Ground during the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, Oman secured a triumphant win over Singapore, defeating them by 22 runs. Oman set a target of 175 runs, and Singapore managed to score 152 runs, losing eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Surendran Chandramohan was the top scorer for Singapore, contributing 41 runs in 31 balls, while Manpreet Singh added 31 runs. However, Bilal Khan and Ahmad Fayyaz Butt claimed two wickets each for Oman, with Shakeel Ahmad, Zeeshan Maqsood, and Aaqib Ilyas Sulheri each taking one wicket.

Batting first after losing the toss, Oman reached a total of 174 runs, losing six wickets in their 20 overs. Aaqib Ilyas Sulheri played a crucial innings, making 63 runs in 35 balls, supported by Prathik Athavale with 42 runs, Zeeshan Maqsood with 26 runs, and Khashyapkumar Prajapati with 12 runs. Singapore's Janak Prakash, Anish Paraam, and Ramesh Kalimuthu took two wickets each.

With this victory, Oman secured their second consecutive win in the championship, having previously defeated Malaysia by 32 runs. Meanwhile, Nepal had also triumphed over Singapore, winning by eight wickets in a match held earlier.

In another match of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Bahrain emerged victorious by defeating Hong Kong by a margin of 20 runs. Hong Kong, chasing a target of 147 runs, could only manage 126 runs before losing all their wickets in 19.1 overs. Anshuman Rath was the top scorer for Hong Kong, contributing 28 runs. Abdul Majid Abbasi was the standout bowler for Bahrain, taking three wickets, while Rizwan Butt and Ali Dawood secured two wickets each.

In their innings, Bahrain scored 146 runs in 19.3 overs, losing all their wickets. Imaran Ali was the top scorer for Bahrain, with 63 runs in 43 balls. For Hong Kong, Nasrulla Rana claimed three wickets, and Ehsan Khan, Aziz Khan, and Yasim Murtaza each took two wickets.

With this victory, Bahrain accumulated two points in the tournament. They had lost their opening match in Group 'B' to the United Arab Emirates by five wickets. Hong Kong, on the other hand, had won their Monday's match against Kuwait by 31 runs. The next matches will see Hong Kong facing the UAE, and Bahrain taking on Kuwait on the upcoming Thursday.
