Myagdi: Mustang district experienced a significant surge in tourism last month, with almost 80,000 tourists visiting the mountainous region during the month of Kartik. The substantial number of domestic tourists is attributed to the festive season.
According to records from the District Police Office, a total of 5,504 international and 73,879 domestic tourists explored Mustang in Kartik. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) offices at Jomsom and Lho-Manthang maintained records of international tourists, while the Ghasa Police Post and Lete Police Post tracked domestic tourist numbers.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Mustang, Bhojraj Pandey, highlighted the influx of tourists during the festivals of Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath, noting that nearly 14,000 vehicles entered the district to carry tourists within Mustang in a span of a month.
