Annapurna Region Welcomes 30,000 Tourists in a Month

Gandaki: In the month of March, a total of 30,199 foreign tourists explored the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna region. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), this includes 14,668 tourists from South Asian countries and 15,531 tourists from other parts of the world.

Dr. Rabin Kadaria, Chief of ACAP, noted that the arrival of tourists has surged with the conclusion of the cold season and anticipates further growth in April.

In a significant milestone, 2023 witnessed a record-breaking influx of 191,558 tourists from 173 countries to the Annapurna region. This surpassed the pre-pandemic peak of 181,000 visitors in 2019. In comparison, the number stood at 129,733 in 2022.

The Annapurna region boasts a plethora of attractions, including the Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Ghandruk, Tilicho Lake in Manang, Thorangla Pass, Upper Mustang, Muktinath area, and Ghodepani in Myagdi along the Annapurna circuit. Encompassing Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Myagdi, and Mustang, the ACAP spans over an area of 7,600 square kilometers.
