Kathmandu: The Kathmandu metropolis is conducting a feasibility study to improve its blue landscapes, such as rivers, ponds, and taps, and green landscapes, including parks, gardens, and open spaces.
Launched on July 1, 2024, the study is set to conclude on March 31, 2024. It aims to address rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and the renewal of ecological systems. Key areas of focus include green corridors, the Bagmati River system, road networks, liquid waste treatment, and informal settlement management.
The project, supported by the Asian Development Bank, also emphasizes urban forests, parks, and open spaces. Urban Planning Commission member Baburam Bhattarai noted that previous sector-based efforts had failed to meet expectations, highlighting the need for an integrated approach.
