Simikot (Humla): Security personnel from Nepal and China conducted a joint monitoring of the northern border area, focusing on the Hilsa crossing in Namkha Rural Municipality-5, on Saturday. This collaborative effort aimed to prevent untoward incidents at the border, assess the condition of border posts, and strengthen coordination between the security forces of the two countries.

The joint monitoring team comprised Chinese security personnel alongside members of Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) and District Police. According to APF Inspector Krishna Bahadur Ojha, who leads the APF Border Security Post in Hilsa, the monitoring initiative reinforces mutual cooperation to ensure the safety and functionality of the border crossing.

In addition to the joint operation, Nepali security personnel have been conducting regular patrols from Hilsa to Nara and Limi, ensuring consistent oversight of the area. Despite heavy snowfall during winter months, which restricts movement in parts of northern Namkha, APF Deputy Superintendent Devraj Rai affirmed that security personnel remain deployed year-round at the Hilsa transit point. The APF has been actively manning this northern border post since its establishment in 2077 BS.

This coordinated effort reflects the commitment of both Nepal and China to safeguarding their shared border while fostering harmony and collaboration between the two nations.
