Kathmandu: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Federal Parliament has decided to forward its investigation report on the Patanjali land case to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for further inquiry and legal action.

The decision was made during a committee meeting held on Thursday. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Committee Chairperson Hrishikesh Pokharel said that the PAC had received a formal complaint regarding irregularities in the Patanjali land acquisition. In response, the committee conducted a series of inquiries involving the concerned ministry and various government agencies.

“Based on our investigation, we have prepared a report and decided to recommend it to the CIAA for deeper investigation and necessary legal procedures,” Pokharel stated.

Subcommittee Deadlines Extended
The meeting also decided to extend the tenure of seven subcommittees by one month. These subcommittees were formed to investigate complaints submitted to the PAC on various matters of public concern.

Chairperson Pokharel acknowledged that although plans were in place to prioritize and resolve the complaints efficiently, progress had been delayed. The extension aims to ensure that the subcommittees submit their findings in writing within the next month.

Pokhara Airport Case Also Forwarded
Pokharel further informed that the subcommittee’s report on the Pokhara Regional International Airport has already been forwarded to the CIAA. “There were no disagreements over the findings of that subcommittee, and we have sent the report for further investigation,” he said.

These developments reflect an effort by the Public Accounts Committee to strengthen institutional accountability and expedite investigations into public grievances and suspected irregularities.
