Kathmandu: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its global economic growth forecast for 2025 to 3 percent, marking a 0.2 percentage point increase from its April projection. The revision, announced on Tuesday, reflects improved global trade developments that continue to shape the economic outlook positively.

According to the IMF’s latest update, global growth for 2025 is now projected at 3 percent, up from the earlier estimate of 2.8 percent. The forecast for 2024 has also been slightly revised upwards, from 3 percent to 3.1 percent.

The outlook for emerging market and developing economies has improved significantly. The IMF now expects these economies to grow by 4.1 percent in 2025, up 0.4 percentage points from its April forecast.

Similarly, advanced economies are also expected to experience slightly better performance, with their 2025 growth estimate revised from 1.4 percent to 1.5 percent.

The IMF noted that growth projections for major global economies such as the United States, euro area, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria have all been revised upwards, signaling broader global momentum.

However, the IMF cautioned that economic policy uncertainty will likely remain high throughout 2024 and 2025, especially due to unpredictable trade policy shifts and global geopolitical developments.
