Kathmandu: NATO military chiefs are set to hold a crucial meeting on Wednesday to finalize security guarantees for Ukraine, even as Russian forces escalate attacks on multiple fronts.

NATO Chiefs to Discuss Security Options

A virtual meeting involving the military leaders of all 32 NATO member nations is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. The primary agenda is to explore the most effective security measures to support Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia.

Russia Captures New Villages

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces have regained control of three additional settlements. Among them are the villages of Sukhetske and Pankiv in the Donetsk region.

Casualties from Drone and Air Strikes

In a separate development, a Russian drone strike killed two people in Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region. A ‘glide bomb’ attack on Kostiantynivka left four people trapped under rubble. Airstrikes in the Sumy region injured at least 14 civilians, including three children.

Peace Talks in the Spotlight

The escalation follows recent meetings between U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. While Trump reiterated that U.S. troops would not be deployed in Ukraine, he pledged air support. Zelensky argued that the renewed Russian offensives highlight the urgency of increasing international pressure on Moscow.
