Two Arrested for Attempting to Influence NPL Match Through Betting

Kathmandu: Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly offering financial incentives to influence the outcome of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

The suspects have been identified as Dilpreet Singh, 28, of Haryana, India, and Rebika Singh Thakuri, 24, originally from Barbardiya Municipality-7 in Bardiya and currently residing in Chandigarh, India.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the duo attempted to approach NPL players via social media platforms WhatsApp and Instagram with betting-related offers. They were arrested from Lazimpat during a police operation.

Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya said the accused were presented publicly today and have been handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation and action.
