Two Arrested for Arson and Vandalism at Hyatt Hotel During Gen Z Protest

Kathmandu: Police have arrested two individuals involved in torching and vandalizing the Hyatt Hotel during the September 8–9 Gen Z protest.
The Kathmandu District Police Range apprehended Dawa Sherpa, 42, of Boudha, Kathmandu Metropolis-6, and Ranjit Khadgi, 29, of Budhanilkantha Municipality-12, on Sunday.
According to Range spokesperson SP Pavan Kumar Bhattarai, the two had forcibly entered the Hyatt Hotel casino carrying sharp weapons and fled with cash amid the chaos of the Gen Z protest.
SP Bhattarai said that the Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep the suspects in custody for a week for further investigation. They have been charged with criminal nuisance and dacoity.
