CIAA Files Corruption Case Against 55 Individuals Over Pokhara Airport Project

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 55 individuals, including several former ministers, over alleged large-scale embezzlement during the construction of the Pokhara Regional Airport.

Former Tourism and Finance Ministers Among Accused
The chargesheet, filed at the Special Court on Sunday, names four former Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministers—the late Posta Bahadur Bogati, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Bhim Prasad Acharya, and Deepak Chandra Amatya.

The CIAA concluded that these officials were involved in corruption amounting to more than Rs 8.36 billion during the construction process.

Senior Bureaucrats Also Implicated

In addition to the ministers, former Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat has also been listed as a defendant. The charges further implicate several senior bureaucrats, including:

-Then Secretaries of concerned ministries
Former Director Generals of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN):
-Triratna Maharjan
-Ratish Chandra Lal Suman
-Pradeep Adhikari

CIAA Assistant Spokesperson Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari confirmed the filing and details of the charges.
