Bhaktapur: In a significant development, security bodies and political parties have joined forces to eradicate illegal activities within Bhaktapur district. A consensus was reached during a coordination meeting held at the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur, under the leadership of Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal.

The five-point agreement reached during the meeting emphasizes adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards illicit activities and heinous crimes. The parties have pledged to uphold impartiality while dealing with such offenses.

Furthermore, the political parties have committed to fulfilling their responsibilities in ensuring peace and maintaining law and order in society. This will be achieved through collaborative efforts among the concerned parties, local administration, police, and political organizations. In the event of general disputes, mediation will be employed as per legal provisions for their resolution.

The agreement also underscores the crucial role of all political parties in coordinating efforts to uphold law and order and combat crime within the district. They are expected to raise awareness at all levels of their respective organizations to promote adherence to existing laws and eliminate impunity prevailing in society, stated CDO Rijal.

Additionally, the parties have agreed to undertake monitoring, coordination, and facilitation to ensure timely completion of construction projects while maintaining the highest standards. Measures will be implemented to prevent and control activities such as narcotics trafficking, black market operations, profiteering, sale of substandard food items and consumer goods, as well as illegal mining and supply of river-based construction materials within the district.

The meeting participants have also vowed to promptly report any instances of illegal activities to the relevant authorities to enable swift action against the culprits.

This unified approach by political parties and security bodies in Bhaktapur aims to create a safe and law-abiding environment, free from heinous crimes and illicit practices. The concerted efforts and cooperation among the concerned stakeholders are expected to yield positive results in maintaining peace and order within the district.
