Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population is calling for the continuation of efforts in the fight against dengue fever, as the number of cases continues to rise.
Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, spokesperson for the Ministry, has urged all individuals to actively participate in daily sanitation campaigns aimed at eliminating the mosquitoes responsible for spreading dengue. He emphasized the importance of sanitation activities in and around offices, encouraging all employees to take part in the campaign at 10:30 am each day.
Dr. Adhikari also appealed to the general public, private sector, and stakeholders to maintain similar efforts in combating dengue. Since the first recorded case of dengue in Nepal in 2004, 1,337 people have been affected by the disease, and unfortunately, one person has lost their life to it this year.
To prevent dengue, the Health Ministry advises the public to use mosquito nets while sleeping, wear full sleeve clothes, and install nets on windows and doors at home.
Additionally, Dr. Gokarna Dahal, from the Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control Division of the Ministry, emphasized the need for local authorities and the general public to intensify their efforts in the campaign against dengue.
