Kathmandu: A significant step towards bilateral collaboration in infrastructure development was taken as Nepal's Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, met with Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Nepal, Saad Nasser Abdullah Abu Haimed, on Wednesday.

During the productive meeting, the officials engaged in discussions regarding vital issues related to infrastructure development and the potential for a partnership in various developmental projects between the two nations. Minister Jwala emphasized the importance of Saudi Arabia as a key destination for Nepali labor, with approximately 400 thousand Nepali individuals presently contributing to the Saudi Arabian labor market.

In light of Nepal's anticipated graduation from the category of least developed countries by 2026, Minister Jwala conveyed the necessity for increased investment and bilateral cooperation in Nepal's infrastructure industry to ensure the sustainability of this achievement. Acknowledging Nepal's aspirations, the Saudi Arabian ambassador expressed the kingdom's willingness to collaborate with Nepal in the fields of infrastructure and transportation. He extended a request to Nepal, urging the nation to put forth a substantial proposal outlining the details of potential collaboration.

An additional point of significance during the meeting was Nepal's confirmation of its support for Saudi Arabia's bid to host the World Expo in 2030. This gesture further exemplifies the strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

As Nepal continues its journey towards elevated development, this meeting marks a pivotal moment in establishing a robust partnership between Saudi Arabia and Nepal, fostering growth and progress in the crucial sectors of infrastructure and transport.
