Kathmandu: The number of dengue infections in Nepal is on the rise, with a total of 21,206 confirmed cases, according to data released by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
The division had previously projected an increase in dengue cases from mid-August to mid-October. Unfortunately, 13 individuals have lost their lives due to dengue infection.
Dr. Rudra Prasad Marasini, the director of the division, attributed the daily increase in dengue cases to continuous rainfall in the region. Dengue was first detected in Nepal in 2004. In 2022, the country reported a total of 54,784 dengue cases, with 88 fatalities resulting from the infection.
Sunsari district currently leads the country in dengue cases, with 11,659 reported infections. Morang follows as the second-highest district with 2,242 cases, while Dhading is third with 2,101 cases.
