Nepal Faces Defeat against India in Asiad Cricket Quarterfinal

Kathmandu: In the quarterfinal match of the T20 Cricket Tournament at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Nepal experienced a 23-run defeat against India. Chasing a challenging target of 203 runs set by India, Nepal managed to score 179 runs but lost nine wickets in the process.

Despite the defeat, Nepal's performance was noteworthy. Dipendra Singh Airee was the top scorer for Nepal with 32 runs. Other notable contributions came from Kushal Bhurtel (28 runs), Kushal Malla (29 runs), Sundip Jora (29 runs), and Karan KC (18 not out). Ravi Bishnoi and Abhesh Khan took three wickets each for India, while Arshadeep Singh claimed two wickets, and Sai Kishor secured one.

In the first innings, India chose to bat after winning the toss, and Yashashwi Jaiswal's impressive century of 100 runs off 49 balls set a challenging target for Nepal. Ruturaj Gaikwad (25 runs), Shivam Dube (25 runs), and Rinku Singh (37 runs) also contributed to India's total.

Although Nepal's bowlers, including Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandip Lamichhane, and Sompal Kami, secured wickets, India managed to set a formidable score.

With this defeat, Nepal exits the tournament, while India advances to the semi-final round.
