Mugu: The search operation for the missing individuals in the Chyankhulek avalanche in Karmarod rural municipality of Mugu is becoming increasingly challenging due to the thick pile-up of snow.
The search has been impeded by over 10-feet of snow in the area, making it difficult to locate those missing. The missing individuals, Tara Singh Sarki, Punna Sarki, and Bir Bohora, were on their way to pick Yarsa when they went missing on May 5.
Since last Tuesday, the search has been intensified with a team of 23 security personnel and rescuers taken to the avalanche site on May 7 via a Nepal Army helicopter for search and rescue.
However, due to the dense snow, the team has not yet been able to reach the incident site. The team has set up a camp at Chhapakhola nearby to facilitate the search operation. Despite the ongoing snowfall in the area, the security personnel will continue their efforts today for the search and rescue operation, according to DSP Mohan Bahadur Basnet.
