Nepal Triumphs Over Malaysia with 6-Wicket Victory in ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier

Kathmandu: In a spirited contest at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal secured a resounding 6-wicket victory over Malaysia during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, further solidifying their campaign.

Chasing Malaysia's set target of 166 runs, Nepal exhibited an exceptional performance by reaching the goal with the loss of only four wickets in 18 overs. Kushal Malla's superb knock of 65 runs in 34 balls and Kushal Bhurtel's contribution of 43 runs at the opening position played pivotal roles in steering Nepal towards a consecutive triumph. Aasif Sheikh added 32 runs to the scoreboard, with Sandeep Jora contributing 18 runs.

On the bowling front, Mohammad Amir was the standout performer for Malaysia, taking three wickets, while Pawandeep Singh claimed one wicket.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Malaysia batted first and posted a total of 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets within the allotted 20 overs. Syed Aziz, Malaysia's opener, was the top scorer with an impressive 68 runs, while Zubaidi Zulkilfe added 24 runs to the team's tally.

Nepal's bowlers put up a commendable effort, with Abinash Bohora leading the way by taking four wickets. Additionally, Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulsan Jha, and Rohit Paudel each contributed with one wicket.

This victory follows Nepal's earlier win over Singapore by 8 wickets, marking their strong start in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier. In Group A, Nepal is competing alongside Malaysia, Oman, and Singapore, while Group B features the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Nepal's upcoming clash will be against Oman on November 2, promising another exciting showdown in their pursuit of T20 World Cup qualification.
