Government Recognizes Outstanding Taxpayers on National Tax Day

Kathmandu: In celebration of National Tax Day 2080, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat honored exceptional taxpayers at the closing ceremony of the Tax Week. The event acknowledged and rewarded the 'best taxpayers' from various sectors.

The Nepal Telecommunications Company received recognition as the highest taxpayer for the fiscal year 2078/79 BS. Additionally, other distinguished companies included Dabur Nepal, Asian Paints, OBC Foods and Feeds Company, Chhimek Microfinance Financial Institution, and Global IME Bank.

Companies that fell within the tax payment range of Rs 500 million to Rs 1 billion, such as Nepal Stock Exchange and Bhotekoshi Hydropower Company, were also honored during the ceremony.

Individual recognitions were given to IME Limited and Bijaya Kumar Sah, while Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. received accolades for paying the highest income tax, value-added tax, excise duty, and timely VAT payments over a five-year period.

As a token of appreciation, the government announced the issuance of a special identity card for a one-year duration to the best taxpayers. The distribution of these identity cards has commenced, with Finance Secretary Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar confirming the initiation of the process.

In addition to honoring top taxpayers, the Finance Minister extended appreciation to employees who demonstrated excellence in tax administration on this occasion.
