Adverse Weather Disrupts Air Travel Across Country

Kathmandu: Air travel across Nepal has been significantly disrupted due to adverse weather conditions.
Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reported that both domestic and international flights have been affected, primarily due to poor visibility caused by the inclement weather. Airport spokesperson Subas Jha confirmed that several international flights experienced delays or diversions due to the low visibility.
Jha noted that an Air China aircraft was diverted, and other flights were placed on hold. Although conditions have slightly improved, with visibility increasing from 1,600 meters to 2,500 meters, flights are gradually resuming normal operations.
Meanwhile, operations at Pokhara International Airport remain suspended for domestic flights. However, airports in the Terai region are still operational, facilitating regular flight services.
At TIA, a total of 30 airlines, including three Nepalese carriers, operate international flights. Additionally, 20 air service providers, including 12 helicopter companies, offer domestic flight services across the country.
