ICC T20 World Cup Cricket: Nepal Defeated by Netherlands in First Match

Kathmandu: Nepal was defeated by the Netherlands in the first match of the ICC T20 Men's World Cup Cricket tournament. Nepal set a target of 107 runs, which the Netherlands successfully chased down in 18.4 overs with four wickets remaining.

Max O'Dowd played a crucial role for the Netherlands, scoring an unbeaten 54 runs, including a six and four fours off 48 balls. Contributions also came from Vikramjit Singh (22 runs), Sybrand Engelbrecht (14 runs), and Bas de Leede (11 runs not out).

For Nepal, bowlers Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Avinash Bohara each took one wicket.

Nepal, having chosen to bat first after losing the toss, scored 106 runs in 19.2 overs. Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel was the top scorer with 35 runs, hitting five fours in his 37-ball innings. Karan KC added 17 runs off 12 balls, Gulshan Jha scored 14 runs, and Anil Sah contributed 11 runs.

Dutch bowlers Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek were effective, each taking three wickets, while Paul van Meekeren took two wickets.

Nepal's next match will be against Sri Lanka in Florida, USA, on June 11.
