Department of Meteorology Forecasts Heat Wave in Tarai, Urges Alertness

Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning about the possibility of excessive heat in the Tarai region in the coming days. The Department's analysis of the temperature conditions throughout the country indicates a significant increase in heat, particularly in the Tarai region, as well as in Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan has emphasized the need for preparedness and caution, advising that the heat is predicted to intensify. "Necessary precaution is advised, as there is the possibility of hot wind and heat wave in the Tarai region until June 10," stated the Department.

Recently, Nepalgunj recorded the highest temperature of the year at 44.2 degrees Celsius, with Dhangadhi closely following at 44.1 degrees Celsius.

Currently, the weather is partly cloudy in the hilly regions and clear in the rest of the country, influenced by local and westerly winds and a low-pressure area around Bihar, India.

Later this afternoon, the weather in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will be partly to generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear. There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces. Additionally, there is a possibility of storms in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
