Muglin (Chitwan): Nepal's first cable car, the Manakamana Cable Car, will be temporarily closed for 50 days starting July 15 for maintenance and upgrades, as announced by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd.

Deputy General Manager Ujjwal Sherchan stated that the service will undergo significant enhancements, transitioning from 'analog' technology to modern digital technology using fiber. This upgrade includes replacing the main cable wire rod, which has been in use since the establishment of the cable car 26 years ago. Skilled technicians from the Australian company Doppelmayr will be conducting the upgrade.

The Manakamana Cable Car, operational since November 24, 1998, has served as a convenient transportation method for pilgrims visiting the famous religious site in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality of Gorkha district.

While the cable car service will be suspended during the upgrade, the restaurant at the entrance (bottom station) of the cable car in Ichchhakamana-4 Kurintar (Cheres), Chitwan, will remain open for visitors.
