Kathmandu: Nepal’s cricket team secured a thrilling 11-run victory over Australia in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament, progressing to the quarter-finals where they will face Sri Lanka.
After being put into bat, Nepal scored an impressive 111 runs in the allotted 6 overs, losing only two wickets. Captain Sundeep Jora showcased his skill with a rapid 51 off 16 balls, smashing four 6s and five 4s. His opening partner, Lokesh Bam, also played a strong innings, adding 33 runs from 13 balls, which included three 6s and three 4s. Bibek Yadav and Rashid Khan contributed 12 runs each to the total. Jack Wood was the standout bowler for Australia, taking two wickets.
In response, Australia fell short, finishing their 6 overs at 100 all out. Jack Wood impressed with the bat as well, scoring 55 runs off 16 balls, while Alex Ross chipped in 14 off 4 balls. Nepal's Pratis GC claimed three wickets in 2 overs, earning him the Player of the Match title, while Lokesh Bam and Bibek Yadav took one wicket apiece.
This win marks Nepal’s second consecutive victory, having previously defeated England by 6 wickets in their tournament opener.
