Torrential Rain Forecast in Parts of Gandaki Province

Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast torrential rain in some areas of Gandaki province tonight. The monsoon system is currently influencing most parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as the eastern parts of Lumbini province. Meanwhile, local and westerly winds are having a partial impact on the remaining provinces.
The Department has urged residents in the affected areas of Gandaki province to take precautions against the potential risks of flooding and landslides. Tonight, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy in Koshi province and partly to mainly fair in the other provinces. Light rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some parts of Gandaki province and isolated areas in Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces.

In the afternoon, the weather will remain partly cloudy in the Madhes province and the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while it will be partly to generally fair in the rest of the provinces. Light to moderate precipitation with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as isolated places in Madhes and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, the weather will be generally to completely cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, partly to generally cloudy in Lumbini province, and partly cloudy to mainly fair in the remaining areas. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of Gandaki province and isolated areas in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two places in Gandaki province.

In the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is forecasted for some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes provinces, and isolated areas in the remaining regions. The Department has indicated that heavy rain could occur in one or two locations in Gandaki province, potentially affecting daily life, agriculture, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air travel in those areas. Precautions are advised for residents and travelers.
