Nepal-China Joint Military Exercise 'Sagarmatha Friendship' Begins

Kathmandu: The fourth edition of the joint military exercise 'Sagarmatha Friendship' between the Nepali Army (NA) and the People's Liberation Army of China is set to take place from September 21 to October 1 in Chongqing, China.
According to the NA's Directorate of Public Relations and Information, a squad of Nepali soldiers has already departed for China to participate in the exercise. The joint training is part of the NA's ongoing efforts to enhance its disaster management, humanitarian assistance, and United Nations peacekeeping capabilities.
First initiated in 2074 BS, the Sagarmatha Friendship exercise focuses on exchanging knowledge and best practices in areas such as disaster management, counter-terrorism, and UN peacekeeping missions. The event, held on a rotational basis between Nepal and China, was postponed in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In related news, the Joint Exercise Pacific Angel, a collaborative training between the NA and the United Nations Army, which began on September 15, concluded on Friday.
