Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has established a High-Level Economic Sector Reform Recommendation Commission aimed at addressing key economic challenges and proposing necessary reforms. The decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday, following a proposal by the Ministry of Finance.

The five-member commission will be led by former Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal. Other members include Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha from the National Planning Commission, Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Gyawali, Head of the Central Department of Economics at Tribhuvan University, economist Dr. Biswas Gauchan, and Dr. Kalpana Khanal, a senior researcher at the Policy Research Institute.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel expressed optimism about the Commission’s role in offering recommendations after thorough discussions with a wide range of stakeholders. The formation of this commission is a part of the Ministry’s 100-day work plan, with the Ministry itself set to outline the Commission’s work procedures.
