Jumla: Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel has emphasized the need to strengthen health services in the Karnali Province, addressing challenges faced in the region. Speaking at the first convocation ceremony of the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Minister Paudel urged the academy to focus on producing skilled healthcare professionals and delivering effective services.
"The Ministry has prioritized the health sector of Karnali in this year’s budget, and KAHS must contribute to the region by creating qualified human resources," he stated. He also highlighted plans to increase health insurance coverage and noted that burn victims across the country are now receiving free treatment.
Convocation Highlights
The event marked a significant milestone for KAHS, celebrating the graduation of 58 students in various Bachelor's and Master's programs in medical sciences, public health, and nursing, shared Amrit Bahadur Bhandari, Administrative Officer of KAHS.
Prof. Dr. Kirsten Meisinger from Harvard Medical College's Center for Primary Care and System Strengthening, USA, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The convocation underlined KAHS’s role in addressing the healthcare needs of Karnali, one of Nepal’s most underserved regions, and its commitment to training health professionals to improve services in remote areas.
