Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a stern warning to individuals disseminating misleading or harmful information via social media platforms, emphasizing its commitment to preserving social harmony and public order.

In a press statement released on Friday, the Ministry stated that legal action would be taken against those engaging in activities that threaten societal unity, dignity, or public peace. The warning comes in response to recent incidents where misleading and unlawful content has been shared on social media, raising concerns about its potential to disrupt harmony.

The Ministry urged citizens to respect existing laws that prohibit the spread of content undermining public morality or fostering divisions among ethnic and religious communities. It also highlighted that such actions are punishable under legal provisions.

This move underscores the government’s focus on addressing the growing influence of social media and ensuring it is not misused to harm communal relationships or public order.
