Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has asserted that Nepal's economy is showing signs of improvement, attributing this progress to ongoing government initiatives.
Speaking on Monday at an event to congratulate the newly elected executive committee of the Nepalese Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ), Finance Minister Paudel said recent economic indicators reflect a gradual recovery.
"The government has been consistently analyzing and addressing economic challenges, and the current positive economic trends are a direct outcome of these efforts," he stated.
Encouraging Economic Signs
Paudel highlighted the increase in capital expenditure and noted significant progress in revenue collection. "Revenue collection has grown by 17 percent in the first four months of the current fiscal year, compared to just 3 percent during the same period last year," he revealed, describing this as a promising sign of economic momentum.
The Finance Minister underscored the government's focus on creating a favorable investment climate, attracting foreign investments, and fostering employment opportunities to uplift entrepreneurial activities in the country.
Call for Improved Coordination
NAFIJ President Menuka Karki stressed the importance of enhancing inter-governmental coordination to sustain economic growth. She also suggested prioritizing increased capital expenditure to accelerate developmental progress.
The Finance Minister's remarks come at a time when stakeholders are closely monitoring Nepal's economic recovery and growth trajectory amidst global and domestic challenges.
