Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population is organizing the Nepal Health Conclave on December 26-27 in the capital to bolster the nation's healthcare system. The event aims to connect Nepali Diaspora health professionals with local healthcare workers to enhance collaboration, exchange expertise, and mobilize resources.
With the theme "Connecting Diaspora for Healthcare Strengthening," the conclave has drawn 1,000 participants from 90 countries, including 300 attending in person and 700 joining virtually. According to Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between global expertise and Nepal's healthcare needs.
"The conference will promote knowledge and technology exchange between the Nepali Medical Diaspora and local healthcare providers, fostering innovation, research, and training partnerships," Dr. Budhathoki stated.
Key themes of the conclave include:
-Global best practices in Diaspora engagement
-The role of 'e-health' and advanced technologies
-Policy dialogues for long-term healthcare strategies
-Research, education, and innovation in the health sector
A significant outcome of the conclave is the expected development of the Nepal Medical Diaspora Engagement Framework, which will guide long-term collaboration between local and international healthcare stakeholders.
The Ministry expressed hope that the conclave would deliver actionable policy recommendations and facilitate sustainable strategies to strengthen Nepal’s healthcare system.
