Lumbini: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has stated that the government is focused on protecting the constitution, ensuring its effective implementation, promoting development, good governance, and finding permanent solutions to various national issues.

Speaking at a discussion with the newly elected team of the Rupandehi chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Sunday, DPM Poudel clarified that the recent ordinances introduced by the government aim to resolve the country’s ongoing challenges. He assured that their positive impact will be visible over time.

He urged media professionals to publish accurate and well-researched information about these ordinances, emphasizing their responsibility in informing the public truthfully.

DPM Poudel also highlighted that the current coalition government, formed in a challenging political landscape, is steering the nation in a positive direction. He reaffirmed that the alliance between the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress will remain intact until 2084.

Addressing concerns about the Social Networking Sites Regulation Ordinance, he dismissed rumors that it threatens press freedom and freedom of expression. He reassured that the government remains committed to safeguarding these fundamental rights.

“Everyone must be accountable for their actions. Those who contribute positively should be rewarded, while those who engage in wrongdoing should be held accountable,” he stated.

DPM Poudel also expressed his commitment to supporting FNJ Rupandehi’s initiatives and encouraged journalists to highlight the development activities taking place in Rupandehi.

Meanwhile, FNJ Rupandehi President Dinesh Pandit briefed DPM Poudel on the current state and future plans of the organization.
