Dang: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized the preservation and promotion of Tharu art, skills, and culture. Speaking at the Inter-Province Cultural Conference, he stated that although the Tharu community possesses a rich cultural heritage, its promotion has been slow. He urged the younger generation to take initiative in safeguarding their traditions.

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya, present at the event, reaffirmed the province government's commitment to preserving and promoting Tharu culture and skills. He also encouraged linking indigenous skills to income generation to enhance economic opportunities.

Similarly, Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, Chairman of Matawa Barghar Bhalmansa and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, urged the government to introduce a Barghar Bhalmansa Act. He highlighted that Barghar, a leadership practice in the indigenous Chaudhary community, is a valuable democratic tradition.
