Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pledged to control politics of hatred that threatens social dignity and family trust through digital platforms.
Speaking at an international conference on digital crime, organized by the Office of the Attorney General, PM Oli emphasized that digital technology should serve human happiness and prosperity rather than be misused for spreading misinformation and disrupting social harmony.
He assured that while laws will be enacted to curb indecent digital behavior, the right to use social media will remain protected. The government is also reviewing the constitution to assess necessary amendments after a decade of its implementation.
Highlighting the challenges posed by cybercrime, PM Oli called for international cooperation in crime control, stating that no single country can tackle digital crimes alone. He urged the use of AI and advanced technology to prevent crimes, conduct objective investigations, and ensure justice.
The conference was attended by key officials, including Attorney General Ramesh Badal, Supreme Court Judge Sapana Pradhan Malla, and General Counsel of the International Association of Prosecutors, Shenaz Muzaffer.
