The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has strongly condemned the tragic incident and expressed shock and grief over Rajak’s death.

In a statement issued by FNJ General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal, the organization called for a thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable. It also demanded compensation for Rajak’s family and expressed solidarity with the media community.

The FNJ denounced the violent acts of the protesters, who vandalized and torched media offices and targeted journalists. The statement confirmed that the building of Annapurna Media Group was severely damaged, while Kantipur Television was attacked with stones, causing panic inside the newsroom. Additionally, a Himalayan Television vehicle was vandalized.

“These inhumane and unacceptable attacks on journalists and media houses must be taken seriously,” FNJ stated, urging authorities to ensure the safety of media personnel and institutions.

The incident highlights rising tensions surrounding the monarchy debate in Nepal, raising concerns about press freedom and journalist safety in the country.
