Rampur (Palpa): The ongoing protest by community school teachers has severely affected the student enrollment campaign and overall academic activities in Palpa district.
With many teachers traveling to Kathmandu to join the central protest, regular educational functions in local schools have come to a halt. The enrollment drive, which is crucial for bringing new students into the education system, remains stalled.
Parents have expressed growing concern over the uncertainty surrounding their children's academic future. Narayan Regmi, a worried parent, said, “The annual exam results have not been announced yet. We are unsure when admissions will begin. Meanwhile, private schools are already recruiting students, which adds to our anxiety.”
Nearly all community school teachers in the district are participating in the Kathmandu-centered demonstration in turns. In support, the District Working Committee of the Nepal Teachers' Federation, Palpa, issued a press release urging all local teachers to take part in the protest. The appeal was signed by various teachers' organizations in the district.
Rampur Municipality's Education Officer Bikal Kafle confirmed that the delay in announcing the annual exam results is due to the teachers' ongoing agitation. The absence of teachers has paralyzed the academic workflow, including exam result publication and new student admissions.
