Kathmandu: Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Russia, stating that both nations are prepared to shoulder special responsibilities as global powers in an increasingly unstable world.
Speaking in the context of rising unilateralism, power politics, and international bullying, President Xi emphasized that China and Russia will jointly defend global justice, uphold United Nations principles, and protect the interests of developing nations.
“China-Russia relations are built on a deep historical foundation,” Xi said, adding that the partnership will become “stronger, more stable, and more enduring” in the new era.
On the 80th anniversary of World War II, Xi highlighted the importance of defending historical truth and reiterated the two countries' joint resolve to build a more inclusive and equitable world order.
He also called for expanded cooperation in key areas including energy, trade, agriculture, space, and artificial intelligence. Xi proposed deeper integration of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union projects to advance high-level infrastructure development.
The Chinese president further stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges, suggesting increased collaboration in education, culture, tourism, cinema, and sports to deepen bilateral ties.
“No matter how the international situation evolves,” Xi stated, “China will stay the course and work closely with Russia to improve the global governance system and uphold shared interests.”
