Kathmandu: Nepal clinched a thrilling two-wicket victory over hosts Scotland in a triangular Twenty20 International series match held at Titwood Stadium, Glasgow, on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 98 runs, Nepal reached the total in 19.5 overs, losing 8 wickets along the way. Opener Kushal Bhurtel laid the foundation for the chase with a valuable 30 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee added 14 runs, while Bashir Ahmad and Kiran Thagunna contributed 13 and 10 runs respectively. Despite a mid-innings collapse, Nepal held its nerve to cross the finish line.
On the bowling side, leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the standout performer for Nepal, claiming 4 wickets and playing a pivotal role in restricting the Scots. Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets each, while Lalit Rajbanshi chipped in with 1 wicket.
Karan KC also achieved a personal milestone during the match, becoming only the second Nepali bowler—after Sandeep Lamichhane—to take 100 wickets in T20 International cricket.
Scotland, who batted first, were bowled out for 97 runs in 19.4 overs. Mitchell Leask was the top scorer with 46 runs, while captain Matthew Cross made 15, and Brendon McMullan added 10.
For the Scottish side, Mitchell Leask and Safyaan Sharif took 2 wickets apiece, with Brendon McMullan, Mark Watt, Jack Jarvis, and Jasper Davidson taking one wicket each.
Sandeep Lamichhane was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning bowling performance.
