Kathmandu: Nepal secured a commanding six-wicket victory over the Netherlands in the ongoing Triangular T20 International Series in Scotland, climbing to the top of the points table based on net run rate.

In the match held on Thursday night in Glasgow, Nepal chased down a challenging target of 175 runs, reaching 178/4 in 19.4 overs.

Opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel led the charge for Nepal with a brilliant 65 off 51 balls, including six fours. After a brief opening stand with Asif Sheikh (7 runs), Bhurtel shared a 54-run partnership with Bhim Sarki, who contributed a quick 27 off 16 balls.

Skipper Rohit Poudel managed only 5 runs, but Arif Sheikh stabilized the innings with a brisk 39 off 23 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. Vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee (16* off 12) and Lokesh Bam (12* off 4) ensured a smooth finish.

For the Netherlands, Rolf van der Merwe, Ben Fletcher, Aryan Dutt, and Zach Lion Cachet claimed a wicket each.

Earlier, after winning the toss, the Netherlands posted 174/7 in 20 overs. Opener Michael Levitt top-scored with a superb 86 off 53 balls, smashing six fours and five sixes. Roelof van der Merwe added 36 off 21, while Aryan Dutt chipped in with an unbeaten 17.

Nepal’s bowling attack was led by Karan KC, who took 2 wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane, Rupesh Singh, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Dipendra Airee took one wicket each.

With this win, Nepal leads the points table with 4 points from 3 matches, edging out the Netherlands on net run rate. Scotland, with 2 points, sits at the bottom.

Nepal will face Scotland in their final match of the series. A win will secure Nepal’s place at the top, but a loss could shake up the standings.
