Washington, D.C.: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially announced the formation of a new political party in the United States, which he has named the "America Party." The announcement was made via a post on Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), coinciding with Independence Day on July 4.

In his post, Musk stated, "Today the America Party is being formed, so that you can get your freedom back." He emphasized that the current Republican and Democratic parties are equally responsible for corrupting the nation, arguing that a fresh alternative is necessary to restore public faith in American politics.

Public Support via Online Poll
Ahead of the announcement, Musk conducted a public poll on X, asking users whether the U.S. needs a new political party. The poll asked: “Do you want freedom from the two-party system? Should we form an America Party?” Out of the total respondents, 65.4% voted in favor, while 34.6% opposed the idea.

Musk wrote, “66% of you want a new political party and now you will get it.” He framed the creation of the America Party as a response to growing public frustration with partisan politics and a call for systemic change.

While no formal policy agenda or leadership structure has been revealed yet, Musk’s move signals an unprecedented challenge to the long-standing two-party dominance in U.S. politics and could reshape the political landscape heading into the 2026 midterms and beyond.
