Cholera Cases Continue to Surge in Birgunj; 93 Infected So Far

Birgunj (Parsa): Cholera infection is rapidly increasing in Birgunj metropolis, with 93 confirmed cases as of Monday. Despite efforts from all three tiers of government, the outbreak shows no sign of slowing down.

Rising Number of Patients

According to Jaymod Thakur, Public Health Officer at the Health Office Parsa, 166 patients are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals across Birgunj. Meanwhile, 178 patients have already recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.

Total Cases and Hospitalization Status

So far, the combined number of diarrhea and cholera patients has reached 344. Among them, 27 patients are in the ICU, six in the High Dependency Care Unit (HDCU), and 122 are admitted to the general ward.

Hospitals Treating Cholera Patients

Cholera patients have been reported from multiple health institutions, including Narayani Hospital, Terai Hospital, National Medical College, and Bhawani Hospital, indicating the widespread nature of the outbreak.

Health authorities are continuing awareness campaigns and sanitation drives to contain the infection, but the situation remains concerning.
