Chitwan: Amidst an outbreak of conjunctivitis (eye infection), Bharatpur metropolis has taken a preventive measure by closing down all public and private schools for five days.
A public notice issued on Sunday announced the temporary closure of schools within the metropolis boundaries from August 7th to 11th. To compensate for the closure, the leave will be adjusted from the winter and summer holidays.
The eye infection cases have been on the rise in Chitwan, prompting Ratnanagar municipality to take similar action. The municipality has requested all private schools operating classes up to grade 12 to suspend their operations from August 7th onwards for a certain period. Furthermore, the schools are asked to conduct eye infection sensitization programs before implementing the closure.
Khairahani municipality in Chitwan had previously made a similar decision, closing down educational institutions to contain the increasing cases of eye infection among students. The schools in Khairahani remained shut on Sunday and Monday.
As health authorities work to control the spread of conjunctivitis, these temporary school closures aim to mitigate the outbreak and protect the health of students and staff.
