ACC Premier Cup: Nepal U-19 Qualify for Asia Cup

Kathmandu: The Nepali U-19 cricket team has secured its place in the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup after a convincing nine-wicket victory over Malaysia in the semifinal match held today at the Ajman Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Chasing a modest target of 52 runs, Nepal reached 53 in just 7.5 overs, losing only one wicket. Bansha Kshetri top-scored with an unbeaten 23, while Nischal Kshetri contributed an unbeaten 15. Malaysia’s Mohammad Akram claimed the lone wicket.

Earlier, Malaysia opted to bat first but were bowled out for 51 runs in 17.2 overs. Hamjah Pangi scored 13, and Muhammad Fathul Muin added 11, with no other batsman reaching double figures.

Nepal’s bowlers dominated the innings, led by Nitish Kumar Patel who took four wickets. Chandan Ram claimed three, while captain Ashok Dhami, Roshan Bishwakarma and Aparajit Paudel took one wicket each.

A total of 14 teams are participating in the tournament, with the top three advancing to the ACC U-19 Asia Cup scheduled to be held in the UAE this December.
