Budget Session of Federal Parliament Begins, President to Present Government Policies and Programs

Kathmandu: The budget session of the Federal Parliament is beginning today with a joint meeting scheduled for 4:00 PM. According to Federal Parliament General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey, the joint session will take place at the Federal Parliament Building in Singha Durbar.

During the meeting, President Ram Chandra Poudel will present the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal. The Parliament Secretariat has requested all lawmakers to be present at the multipurpose hall of the House of Representatives before 3:45 PM.

Prior to the joint session, separate meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will be held at 2:00 PM. The agenda of the House of Representatives includes reading out the President’s letter regarding the convening of the session and informing the House about the recent reshuffle of the Council of Ministers.

The House will also discuss the nomination of members to preside over meetings in the absence of the Speaker, along with the presentation and approval process of draft regulations issued under Rule 260 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079 BS.

Meanwhile, the government is preparing to table eight important ordinances during the session. These include the Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Ordinance 2083, the Special Provisions on the Removal of Public Officials Ordinance 2083, and the Constitutional Council (Work, Duties, Powers and Procedures) First Amendment Ordinance 2083.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the ordinances will be presented in both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. The ongoing session is expected to focus primarily on the preparation and passage of the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
