Over-speeding Blamed for Dhading Bus Accident
Malekhu: The initial investigation into the bus accident that occurred this morning on its route from Kathmandu to Pokhara indicates that over-speeding was the cause. According to preliminary findings, the bus may have veered off the road and plunged into the Trishuli river while attempting to overtake another vehicle or avoid a pothole.

Gautam Mishra, the Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Dhading, suggested that the accident might have occurred as the bus was overtaking another vehicle or maneuvering to avoid a pothole. The accident site features a waterfall and a small bridge without railings, and there are approximately two-meter-long potholes in proximity to the bridge. These road conditions, combined with the driver's actions, contributed to the accident.

Gautam shared, "The accident could have been caused by overtaking another bus or trying to avoid the pothole. The road conditions and the driver's actions both played a role in the accident." The bus, with license plate Province 3-01-005 Kha 9952, was en route to Beni in Myagdi district from Kathmandu via Pokhara when it plunged into the Trishuli river in Gajuri-2 of Dhading on Wednesday morning.

The tragic incident resulted in the loss of eight lives and left 17 individuals injured.
