Kathmandu: Nepal's women's cricket team has emerged victorious in the highly competitive Women's T20 Quadrangular Series held in Malaysia. The triumphant moment came as Nepal secured a hard-fought win against Hong Kong by a margin of 13 runs in a thrilling final encounter, which was eventually decided by the Duckworth-Lewis method due to persistent rain interruptions.

The final clash took place at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where Nepal, having won the toss, chose to bowl first. Displaying their prowess on the field, Nepal managed to restrict Malaysia's batting to a total of 101 runs, claiming six wickets in the allocated 20 overs. Noteworthy contributions came from Khusi Dangol, who clinched three crucial wickets, while Ashmina Karmacharya and Kabita Joshi chipped in with one wicket each.

In response, Nepal embarked on their chase of the 102-run target set by Malaysia. However, inclement weather disrupted the proceedings after Nepal had played just 5.3 overs, amassing 37 runs and losing a solitary wicket. Indu Barma and Sita Magar made notable contributions of 19 and 13 runs respectively before the rain intervened.

For Hong Kong, Yasmin Daswani, Ka Ying Chan, Marina Antonia, and Shanzeen Shahzad put up commendable performances, scoring 11, 29, 19, and 14 runs respectively while batting. Yet, Nepal's consistent bowling efforts managed to keep Hong Kong in check.

The match's decisive interruption led to Nepal being declared the victor, marking a significant achievement for the team. Khusi Dangol's outstanding performance during the final earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match accolade.

The Women's T20 Quadrangular Series featured Nepal, Hong Kong, Kuwait, and the host country Malaysia. This series served as a crucial preparation platform for Nepal as they gear up for the Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, slated to take place in Malaysia from August 31 onwards. The triumph in the Quadrangular Series not only boosts Nepal's morale but also underlines their growing prominence in the women's cricket circuit.
