Kathmandu: In response to Friday's earthquake in the Karnali Province and issues related to meeting hall availability, the Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to postpone its scheduled Mahasamiti meeting by two weeks.

During the NC central executive committee meeting held on Sunday, it was decided that the Mahasamiti meeting would be rescheduled for December 15 to 18 of this year. The meeting venue remains at the Godavari-based Sunrise Convention Centre in Lalitpur, with the original dates set for November 29 to December 1.

The party has chosen to suspend all formal events until the Tihar festival due to the earthquake's impact on western Nepal.

Furthermore, the meeting has urged the government to expedite its rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the earthquake-affected areas, appreciating the steps taken thus far.

The NC also recognized that the monetary assistance of Rs five million announced by the party for the survivors is insufficient and has called for additional aid to be secured for them. In addition, a committee will be established to oversee and facilitate the equitable distribution of relief, ensuring that irregularities are avoided during the process.
