Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated his commitment to strengthening democracy and upholding the constitution in Nepal. Speaking at the launch of Captain Rameshwar Thapa's book, Into the Fire, on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that no actions violating the rights of others will be tolerated under Nepal's democratic governance system.

Oli asserted that Nepal, with its unique identity, civilization, and culture, does not need to imitate the governance models of other countries. "Nepal has its own identity, civilization, and culture; therefore, there is no need to copy from others," he remarked, dismissing any concerns that political developments similar to those in Bangladesh could occur in Nepal.

The Prime Minister emphasized that those who fought against democracy would not be allowed to undermine it. "We are going to strengthen the democracy and constitution for which we had fought. It is not possible for those who fight against democracy to tarnish us," he declared. He assured that the violent activities of the past would not be repeated, and that anarchy and violence are no longer possible in Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli also highlighted the government's dedication to justice, peace, and the rule of law, stressing that it will not pursue self-interest through improper means. He underscored the importance of rational implementation of laws, noting that democracy should be reflected in the norms and values of both the government and society.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to integrity and his stance against corruption, while also highlighting the government's efforts to alleviate poverty through economic improvements.

The event also saw the participation of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Balguru Adityanath, who jointly launched Captain Thapa's book alongside Prime Minister Oli.
