Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the need for the effective implementation of women's rights guaranteed by Nepal's Constitution and laws during a Teej Festival reception hosted by First Lady Sabita Paudel at Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas, on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, President Paudel acknowledged the evolving societal attitudes toward women, noting significant improvements in their status. He stressed the importance of rigorously enforcing the constitutional and legal provisions that protect women's rights. "The condition of women is not the same as before. There are now many provisions for women's rights in the Constitution and laws of Nepal," he stated.

The President also underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Nepal's diverse cultures and festivals, arguing that these traditions are vital to maintaining the country's cultural originality.

The Teej Festival, also known as 'Haritalika,' is a significant celebration for Nepali Hindu women, with the main day falling on September 6 this year. The event at Sheetal Niwas was attended by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, women ministers, parliamentarians, and senior women officials from various agencies.
