President Paudel Departs for COP-29 in Azerbaijan

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel is set to leave for Baku, Azerbaijan, today to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Leading a high-level Nepali delegation at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President Paudel will represent Nepal on the global stage to address critical climate issues.

Agenda Highlights
World Leaders Climate Action Summit: President Paudel will deliver a speech during the high-level session on November 12, emphasizing Nepal's climate priorities.
Special Session on Nepal’s Climate Agenda: On November 13, Nepal will host a dedicated session to spotlight the unique climate challenges faced by the nation, especially in its mountainous regions.

Focus on Climate Impact
Nepal plans to highlight the devastating effects of climate-induced disasters, including floods and landslides in Melamchi, Mustang, Kanchanpur, Thame, and Kathmandu Valley. A high-level meeting during the conference will address "climate-related damage and loss in mountainous areas," aiming to garner international support.

Nepal's Commitment
As a signatory to multiple climate conventions, Nepal is implementing its National Adaptation Action Plan, targeting resilience and sustainability by 2050.

Conference Details
The COP-29, running from November 11 to 22, will bring together global leaders to discuss strategies for combating climate change. President Paudel is expected to return to Nepal on November 15.
